Sam Trickett has officially been crowned the best poker player in Europe.
The East Retford-born star was named European Poker Player of the Year at the 11th Annual European Poker Awards.
The Golden Spade tops an astonishing 18 months for the youngster, who pocketed more than $3million in just 30 days at the start of 2011, with huge victories at the PCA and Aussie Millions high rollers.
In total,the Titan pro stashed $4.5million in the calendar year - including another $1million for winning the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event.
Other big winners at the plush bash at the Aviation Club in Paris were Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier who won Poker Personality of the Year, Pius Heinz - who won Best Tournament Performance for landing the WSOP Main Event - and Illari ‘ziigmund’ Sahamies, who bagged Online Player of the Year.
