If you comment on stories, whatever you publish can be seen by anyone viewing the Pokerjolt website. Whilst this means you can let other people know your opinions, get in touch with existing friends and also make new ones, you are also allowing others to see information about yourself. We therefore strongly suggest you read the following safety tips:
Don't divulge personal information. Never give out your email, home address or phone number, or post information that would make it easy for someone you didn't know to find you.
Don't forget that comments and forum areas on Pokerjolt are viewable by everyone. Don't post anything that might embarrass you or that you don't want everyone to know.
Don't confuse people you meet online with real friends. They may not be who they say they are, and you should certainly never arrange to meet them offline.
Don't pretend to be someone you're not. Whilst it can be fun to invent a new identity for yourself online, this can lead to trouble or embarrassment later.
Don't get caught out by phishing. Phishing is used by fraudsters pretending to be your bank, building society or online payment provider. The email they send will look real and will try to scare you into reacting without thinking. It will claim that there's something wrong with your account and that you should log in using the link in the e-mail. The link will take you to a dummy site that looks like your bank's site. If you type in your login and password, your real account may be accessed and emptied within minutes. If you aren't sure if an e-mail is real or not, chances are it won't be. You can check with the site directly by typing it into your browser. If you've already been caught by a "phish", report it to your bank or the website right away.
Don't get caught out by other online cons. Offers or emails that seem too good to be true always are. Don't allow yourself to be fooled by messages from people promising large sums of money or other benefits.
