Layne Flack is a very successful professional poker player with live tournament earnings in excess of $4,300,000.

While at college, Flack got a summer job as a dealer in a casino. After his shifts ended he would play poker and put into practice some of the strategies he’d watched other players using when he was dealing for them. After experiencing some success, he soon decided to quit school and become a full time poker player.

In 1995, Flack met and befriended Huck Seed – and Seed encouraged him to take his poker talents to Las Vegas. Flack duly made the transition over two or three years and became a regular on the Las Vegas and LA poker scene. During this time Flack met Johnny Chan who mentored him and gave him advice that helped him win more tournaments.

As of 2010, Layne Flack has cashed at the World Series of Poker 23 times, and won 6 WSOP gold bracelet events.

The two consecutive WSOP bracelet events he won in 2002 earned him the nickname “Back to Back Flack”.

Flack has enjoyed success on the World Poker Tour too, having cashed nine times and made three final tables. He won his first and so far only World Poker Tour title in the 2003 “WPT Invitational” at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles.

Layne Flack has a documented ongoing battle with alcohol and substance abuse that has dogged his career and limited his opportunities in terms of fame (as opposed to notoriety) and TV exposure. His aggressive style of play and supreme confidence in being able to outplay others post-flop makes him a genuinely exciting player to watch, and a terrifying opponent to play against.

Flack is single and has a teenage daughter called Halie.
