It was the second time Virgin Money and Virgin Wines have battled it out on the baize

Virgin Money customers can relax - the people who looks after their cash are actually pretty good at maths.

Which is a relief.

Financial whizz James Harvey won a tense poker tournament between the staff of Virgin Money and the delicate-nosed employees of Virgin Wines, both of which are based in Norwich.

Some 31 players - all of whom work for Sir Richard Branson's sprawling empire - took part in the high-spirited tourney at the Norwich Poker Club and, after five hours the Virgin Money man emerged victorious.

It was the second time the two companies have battled it out on the baize - and on both occasions the financial staff have come out on top.

The shindig raised an impressive £1,000 for charity after other parts of the Virgin group stumped up the prizes.

Lee Albin, who organised the event, said: “Virgin Wines put up a good fight finishing in 3rd and 4th places but, in the end, it was our colleagues at Virgin Money who pipped us to the number one spot.

"We look forward to putting up a strong fight in the re-match!”

Virgin Wines Managing Director Jay Wright, added: “With us both based in Norwich, it’s the perfect opportunity for us to engage in a bit of inter-company rivalry.

"It is great that so many employees from the two companies turned out last night for an evening of fun, particularly when all the proceeds went to support our partner charity Virgin Unite.”

Regular poker games against your colleagues for charity?

Not a bad place to work, obviously...
