Just eight of the 891 entrants now remain in the fight for the €880,000 first prize after the Swede bust Laurent Polito in 9th place for €50,000.

Jacobson, who was runner-up at the EPT Vilamoura in September, won his seat to Deauville via the EPT Steps satellites.

But he showed his true class here tonight by taking down the crucial last pot of te day against Polito.

Jacobson raised to 110,000 in position and called when Polito three-bet to 310,000 from the big blind.

When the flop came 8♠7♥J♠ Polito checked to Jacobson who bet 300,000.

Polito pushed all his 2.7 million chips into the middle, but Jacobson insta-called, showing 7♦7♣ for bottom set. Polito's Q♠Q♦ was completely dominated and when the A♥ and J♦ fell to complete the board, the final table was set.

Jacobson's biggest cash to date was at the EPT Vilamoura where he pocketed €297,985, but he boasts other impressive live results.

A third place at the EPT Budapest in Season 5 netted him €197,904 while he was runner-up at the WPT Venice last year, trousering €238,840 in the process.

His total career winnings stand at $1.3 million - although that will increase by at least €66,800 after this event.
