Kent Lundmark is the sixth Swedish EPT champion

Kent Lundmark has won the EPT Barcelona, the biggest poker tournament ever held in Spain, pocketing a whopping €825,000.

The 22-year-old from Stockholm beat Spanish pro Jesus Cortes Lizano heads-up to win the €5,300 buy-in event.

Lundmark is the sixth Swedish EPT champion and his victory follows a 2nd place in the Nordic Masters of Poker in March, where he trousered $69,000. In January he was the longest-lasting Swede at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, finishing 29th place for $66,000.

Lundmark said: "It’s an amazing feeling.

"This is one of the biggest tournaments you can win in poker. I’ve been running good all tournament, I was very lucky. In the heads-up, I just kept getting good cards. I always felt in control."

Lundmark also wins a seat worth €10,000 to this season’s EPT Grand Final, to be held in the spring of 2011.

Runner-up Jesus Cortes Lizano, also 22, from Zaragoza, earned €525,000 for second place - the biggest single EPT cash recorded by a Spanish player. The previous record was held by Santiago Terrazas who won €300,000 when he finished in third place in Barcelona last season.

EPT Barcelona took place in a spacious new annex at Casino Barcelona and attracted a record field of 758 players. Since the EPT first visited Barcelona – it was the debut event of season one - the prize pool has swelled from €229,000 to €3,790,000 – a 16-fold increase. That debut event was also won by a Swede – Alexander Stevic, who won €80,000.

The next event of EPT Season 7 is the €5,300 EPT Prague event, from December 13-18, 2010.

Satellites for EPT Prague are running now, as well as for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, in January. See www.ept.com for further details.
